Florida Park community pub to reopen following £160,000 investment

Florida Park, the Southside community pub located on Battlefield Road and just 500 yards from Hampden Park, is reopening following a £163,000 investment from Proper Pubs.

As part of the refurbishment, the pub has received a full interior redecoration, which includes brand- new carpet and flooring throughout, a new bar area, updated fixtures and fittings, newly refreshed toilet facilities and a brand-new sound system.

The exterior has also benefitted from the investment, with new signage and decoration, featured hanging baskets and an updated beer garden area, which includes new picnic benches and atmospheric festoon lighting.

Proper Pubs, the Operator Managed platform of Hawthorn, the Community Pub Company, owns more than 130 local, community pubs across Scotland, England and Wales.

The pub is a hugely popular match-day venue for football fans, famous for its vibrant atmosphere and friendly service, and it will reopen on Saturday, in time for the Scotland vs. Israel World Cup qualifier at Hampden.

The pub will be run by Operator Elaine Ferrie, who has been running pubs and event spaces for over 30 years. Elaine said, “I’m like a kid at Christmas! I’m a regular at Hampden, whether for Scotland games or concerts, and I’ve been coming to Florida Park for years, so it feels amazing to be taking over the running of such a fantastic pub. I can’t wait to welcome regulars both new and old into the new and improved Florida Park. Our goal is to create a modern pub that caters to all and offers a great range of fantastic value drinks, so everybody’s welcome!”

Matthew Gurney, Operations Director of Proper Pubs, said: “We’re delighted for Elaine, who will be a fantastic Operator at Florida Park, and we’re extremely proud that her whole team will be donating all tips from opening night straight into a fund to raise £1,500 to purchase an emergency community defibrillator. Elaine is a great ambassador for her community, and for us as a business, and we wish her and her team the very best of luck.”
