It’s 1966.
Wembley Stadium is packed. The tension is unreal.

Geoff Hurst strikes. The ball hits the underside of the bar… bounces down… and suddenly the stadium erupts.

Minutes later, with West Germany pushing forward, England break again. Hurst runs through, shoots, and this time there’s no doubt.
England 4–2 West Germany.
England are World Cup winners.
England won the FIFA World Cup in 1966. It’s still the only time England have lifted the trophy, and it happened on home soil.

Portugal had Eusebio, one of the best players in the world at the time. But England stepped up when it mattered.

From there, it opened up and England, backed by a home crowd and a strong disciplined squad, grew into the tournament.
By the time they reached the final, belief had fully set in.
